We are all in a constant state of becoming. Coaching is for everyone.

Where the hero myth gifts us an understanding of how momentous these life journeys of ours are, it also presupposes a linear structure and the promise of an arrival point. But as the narrative structure rises and falls, so too do our heart beats. Again and again, they cycle through the narrative structure. There is no arrival, simply, more learning.

How we approach this learning can be a creative act. Imaginative, innovative, productive, a ‘rumbling’ to use one of Brene Brown’s terms. It is a choice to step into the transitional period with a sense of play so we can find that next place of becoming, these next skills we need to do our job.

Kate Ellis provides coaching in corporate settings as well as for artists and individuals needing support.

Kate Ellis has worked with such singers and composers as Emma Dean, artists and writers like Julie Gregor and Kara Mandel; and people in big and small business such as Parks Victoria. She uses a combination of writing practices and actor training techniques to assist people in presenting in a full bodied, evocative way; in integrating their past, present and becoming practices; to find the written, oral and physical language to express who they are at this time as well as what their values and passions are.

‘Kate teaches with wisdom and intuition. As a woman who is constantly curious, she brings fresh perspectives, attention to detail, historical and philosophical references, and an abundance of energy to every scene work session. Kate holds a safe space for actors, with an unconditional welcoming that allows her students to feel safe accessing all aspects of self, which leads to beautiful nuanced work. Above all else, Kate is fiercely present. Kate’s presence in scene work sessions enriches my craft and my spirit’.

‘Kate has made the painful task of finding the words and structure to talk about myself and my creative work, fun. Kate curated a unique learning experience, leading me on an inner treasure hunt to find and polish the jewels hiding inside my past and current body of work. The discoveries we made together have given me the language, clarity and confidence I have been longing for to talk about and expand who I am becoming’

Julie Gregor.

Artist. Conservationist.

I leave every session with Kate buzzing with the exhilaration of possibility and an eagerness to dive in head-first to whatever creative project I’m working on. The way Kate teaches is poetic, galvanising and inspiring. She dances with my inner-child as well as the lofty intellectual, with every step guiding me closer to the heart of who I am and what I want to do. I came to Kate during a pivotal moment in my career and she helped me dig deep and excavate parts of me I had buried or not yet discovered. She gave me valuable practical skills and techniques to move forward with my new project as well as playful exercises to help with the creative liquor flow. Yummy! I cannot recommend Kate Ellis highly enough as a teacher for anyone who wants to explore or expand their creative practice.Emma Dean. Singer. Songwriter. Choir Mamma.
